I just got my new laptop at the beginning of August, and before that I could use chrome perfectly. Now, all that chrome will read to me is the links. Does this happen to anyone else? If not, could someone tell me how to fix it?
Lots of information missing.
Did it work on your new laptop ever?
Did you change OS, like are you now using Windows 7 and before you had XP?
Did you upgrade Jaws or your screen reader when you got the laptop, or what is it you are using?
Did you change virus programs with the new system? Just lots of questions.
It is hard to solve this without info.
No, it's never worked on my new laptop, and I still use JAWS 12, just like I have been using. I used to be using XP, but now it's 7. For virus programs, I use avast. Sorry, I left this out.
Ah. There is your problem. You'll probably need to try the demo of Jaws 13. Also if you run the latest version of 12 that should work for Chrome.
Last how you install it makes a differents. On the page you'll find a setting for screen readers. Remove it and start over, but update the 12 to the latest version of it. It should work. I haven't, but I'll test it and reply about my personal findings.
Chrom works fine with Jaws 13 latest update just make sure that avast has not installed a toolbar that could be blocking your jaws from seeing Chrom's screen.
How would I know if it has installed the tool bar?
Add and remove programs. In the search box on the start type add and remove programs it will get there before you finish. Hit inter on it.
Now look for tool bars and remove them.
